His family moves to Milan. Einstein leaves the Institute without completing his studies and goes to Pavia, where he lives with his family
His family moved first due to money issues, but he followed also because he resented the school's regimen and teaching methods.

He renounces his citizenship in the German Kingdom of Württemberg to avoid military service.

Einstein and his family flee to Princeton, USA, after Anti-Semitism intensifies.

Outbreak of World War II. Einstein signs letter to President Roosevelt warning of the threat to the world of Germany's manufacturing an atom bomb.

Re-writes the 1905 manuscript on the special theory of relativity which is auctioned for six million dollars to aid the allied cause

Chairs the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists. Continues his campaign against re-armament and in favour of a world government.

Offered and declines the presidency of the state of Israel

With Bertrand Russell, draws up a manifesto against the nuclear threat. On 18 April, Einstein dies at Princeton hospital as the result of a burst aortic aneurysm in the abdominal aorta. He was cremated and his ashes scattered into the Delaware River
